Alex Catches Up

We're back!!
As Melina mentioned, we haven't been faithful in our blogging regime, but we've resolved to get back into the swing of things! This blog is important to us because it is something we can both contribute to even when we are so far away.
So, without further ado, here's what's been happening in my life as of late...

I got to photograph the beautiful chapel at Valpo. It was magical being in there alone and exploring.

Lots of photo shoots with my gorgeous friends...

 ...being their weird selves.

My stunning friend Laura, graciously modeling for my profile assignment for photo class.

Also, I got to play a man in my Freshman Production for my honors college class. Yep, that's me with the mustache with all my pretty friends. I had so much fun!

As Melina hath declared, we are getting back in the swing of blogging! At least, we'll try to. In a few short weeks we will both be home for Christmas, and there will surely be photo shoots and adventures to follow!

Hope everyone is enjoying their holiday season!

WE'RE BRINGING BLOGGING BACK

Alright, so if you've ever been a freshman in college you know that your first semester is COMPLETELY overwhelming. Common first semester catch phrases are as follows:

"Lol I have a six page paper due in an hour and a half."
"Why did I go out on Sunday night?"
"9am class? Meet my 9am SASS."
"COFFEEEEEE."

Needless to say, neither Alex nor I factored in time for blogging while adjusting to our new collegiate lifestyles, which was a BIG mistake, because we've missed you all!
So, everyone, SEVEN HUNDRED MILES IS BACK, and we're better than ever before! We're ready to blog through this bleak winter, which won't be so bleak, because in the upcoming months Alex and I will get to spend tons of time together! In fact, I'll be seeing her this weekend for Thanksgiving (expect a photo-shoot y'all!)

Before the full-fledged blogging begins, we're going to play a little bit of catch-up. Here are a few snapshots to recap my first semester at NYU!

Springtime at the Chelsea High Line!

Lots of fun art galleries! (here' some Christopher Boffoli)

 A slammin Passion Pit concert!

I abandoned all hope of growing out the bob, chopped my hair back into the pixie, and dyed it black/blue!

Halloween under the Washington Square Arch. Shoutout to this classy iPhone picture and my pathetic last minute Rosie the Riveter costume.

The Flaming Lips/ Tame Impala Concert!

I helped film/ my arm was in this amazing music video with some of my best friends!

And I've gotten to see some incredible shows! (Yes, I did go see Spider-Man Turn Off the Dark, there is no judgment required.)

I hope you all enjoyed this way-too-quick-and-totally-not-inclusive-of-everything overview of my first semester! I'm sure more college-ey posts will be on their way. Anyone interested in dorm room tours? Maybe a winter lookbook?
I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday!

Melina

We Can Be Your Renaissance Girls

Hello interweb...

Meet my wonderful friends! (Some of them, at least!)
It's difficult to believe that I've been at school for over a month now... maybe because I've been incredibly busy writing papers? But in the time I've been here I've met so many wonderful people and having a really lovely time.

A few of my good friends here took a mini trip to the Dunes over the weekend, and we had a blast running around and feeling free by the sea :)
(Actually, it's a lake, but we like to pretend.)

I hope fall is shaping up well for everyone. I am loving the cooler fall weather... Don't get either Melina or me started on our feelings on sweaters. Suffice to say they are more than fuzzy.

Speaking of Melina, she's having a wild and fabulous time in NYC, and I miss her more than anything! But the good thing about October is it's almost November. And the good thing about November is it's almost December. And the good thing about December is I get to see my best friend :)

Happy October!

Big Apple Livin'

Hello everyone, Melina here! I'm sorry that there haven't been any recent posts up. Both Alex and I moved into school this past Saturday and there has just been OH SO MUCH to do! I'm currently living in a dream-like state, still convincing myself that I'm really a fledgling New Yorker. This week has been full of NYU orientation activities, but I've still gotten to explore the Village and Soho quite a bit! One of my proudest moments thus far has been sampling Dominique Ansel Bakery's Cronut. (Short description- the heavenly hybrid of a croissant and a doughnut, long description- click here) Waking up at 4:45am to wait in line was COMPLETELY worth it! Other than living the Cronut life, I've gotten to see quite a few awesome performances, passed some famous faces on the street (Hello Zachary Quinto), and met so many incredible new people! I miss my dear Alexandra so much and wish that she was here with me, but I know she's going to have an incredible year at Valpo!

Hope all of your school years are off to a fantastic start!

Melina

Alex Goes to Colorado

Hello friends!

A few weeks ago I got back from a family vacation to Colorado, and it was the most beautiful place! We went hiking, white water rafting, and galavanting around Vail...

I took a million pictures (most of them of flowers, as you can probably tell from the selection above), and I had such a wonderful time with my camera. It's always nice to spend some time away from home in a beautiful place. I also had a lot of family time, which was nice considering that I'll miss them a whole bunch when I leave for school!

We also stopped in Vail Mountain Coffee and Tea Co. after a dinner, and I unfortunately forgot to bring my camera! It was such a cool place though. My dad's friend used to work for this roaster in Minturn, Colorado, and we stopped in and met him! We chatted for a while and bought some coffee, which was delicious.

And speaking of delicious, did you see my cupcake? Are you jealous? You should be, it was heavenly! My sister and I ate three cupcakes one day... oops! But that's what vacation is for, right? :)

Here's hoping you've all been having great summer adventures as well!

Sunshine Blues

Alex is wearing... {dress/ Forever21.... scarf/Target.... shoes/ MIA}

Melina is wearing... {dress/ Forever21...headband/ handmade from a mens tie, bought at craft fair!....shoes/ Nine West}

Hello!

It's August, and every high school graduate knows what that means... move in is just around the corner. While it pains us to think of the day we will have to part, we are both incredibly excited to begin this next ginormous stage in our lives.

But for right now, life is lazy, consisting of lots of food (including mid-day fro-yo, one particularly cheesy pasta, and some classy late night McDonald's ice cream runs) and watching one of our favorite movies, Clueless! And of course, shooting the day's outfits.

Hope everyone is having a lovely summer!

Pierogi Heaven

This weekend my family and I made our annual visit to Whiting Indiana's Pierogi Fest! What is Pierogi Fest you ask? Why, it's only the most delicious celebration of Polish food, culture, and fun that anyone could possibly ask for! The fest has been pretty widely publicized within the past few years, (It was even on the Food Network!)  but my grandparents live in Whiting, so I've been a loyal Pierogi Fest attendant since my stroller days. Thankfully, it was nice and cool outside this year without bad crowds- so this Polack girl got to CHOW DOWN!

Okay y'all,  I know this doesn't look too Polish, but Wild Bill's Soda has had a booth at the fest for the past few years, and they make the MOST delicious Root Beer on earth!

My momma, enjoying some Halupki (Stuffed Cabbage).

POTATO PANCAKES!

My cousin Camille was a Pieroguette, Miss Chicken!

                       I'm a Sauerkraut lover.

And what would Pierogi Fest be without a little Daddy/Daughter Polka?

XO,
Melina
